Princess Theatre HVAC Fund - UPDATE 24 April 2025!
Good news! The long-awaited heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units ordered last fall to replace and upgrade our aging HVAC system are scheduled to be installed beginning the week of May 12th, just in time to beat the heat of summer. Of our 5 HVAC units, only 1 survived the strain and stress of the past year’s weather extremes, so these have arrived just in time.
Because of equipment and installation cost increases, as well as interim costs created by those equipment failures, the Princess Theatre HVAC Fund goal was raised to $125,000, with $50,000 coming from the Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation's Historic Theater Grant Program. We are still seeking approximately $20,000 in donations to reach our goal. Please consider making a donation now.
What are some of those interim costs? Renting portable swamp coolers last summer, the purchase of heat towers placed throughout the buildings, and increasingly high utility bills.
Whether coming to see a play, enjoy a concert, laugh with comedians, or attending other events here at the Princess, you’ve experienced sweltering heat in the summer, and chilly temps in the winter. But you bore with us, knowing new equipment was on order, and we thank you for supporting us with your time, your presence, and your money.
We know it hasn’t always been comfortable, and we thank you in advance for pardoning our dust during the equipment changeover, plus the installation of an additional unit for The Green Room.
Should any HVAC funds remain after the project is completed, those monies will be designated for an annual HVAC service plan with regular maintenance, and possibly the installation of ceiling fans in the Green Room to better circulate heating and cooling throughout that room. The end result will greatly benefit our patrons and community with a safer and more comfortable environment, as well as contributing to both long-term energy and cost efficiency.
We welcome donations in any amount. As always, we thank you for your support!
